Oscar Season Has Begun!
Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Biutiful, 21 Grams, Babel) has opened the Venice Film Festival with his
latest Birdman. With the Telluride Film Festival in the
rural, “homey”, warm country feeling, taking off this weekend in Colorado; this
marks the official launch of Oscar season!
It’s hard to believe my most favorite time of the year has
made its annual arrival. Of course, as
an outsider soon to be on the inside but for the moment standing at the window
sill and looking in, this also marks the time where for a good month or so, I
have to read about all the new sparks of interest on this season’s road to the
big night. But this just makes those
moments of finally being able to experience the latest hype in their full glory
that much more special!
Birdman is off to a great, initial start. We’ll see how it does at Telluride, and
Toronto, and so on. That goes for
everything getting an early start on creating the buzz to get that much closer
to big kahuna. Last year’s recipient of
said kahuna, 12 Years A Slave, made
its debut at this first stop!
Let the games begin!
